In a shaker, combine ice, 2 oz. rum, 1 oz. simple syrup, and 1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice. Shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, or a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Want to try something a little more challenging that doesn't involve the shaker? Sharpen that utility knife and break out some oranges. The Negroni is a tricky cocktail that can be an acquired taste for some. When made correctly, the balance of this drink is divine. Pour 1 ½ oz. gin, 1 ½ oz. Campari, and 1 ½ oz. sweet vermouth into a rocks glass and stir well. Garnish with an orange slice.
